Mercedes-Benz W639 Air Suspension Compressor (Pump)
How Does the Air Compressor Work?
The AEROSUS air compressor consists of three parts:
• Air housing unit: holds and distributes air where needed
• Electric motor: powers the air compressor
• Air dryer: Keeps your air suspension system moisture- and debris-free
Using these three parts, your air compressor supplies air to your air springs. This allows your MB to alter its level controls. Whether you’re sailing over potholes or carrying a heavy load, your air suspension system ensures your rides remain smooth and stable.
Also, note that for the AEROSUS air compressor to work properly, YOU MUST REPLACE YOUR CURRENT RELAY. We supply you with the replacement part. But if you ignore this step, your new air compressor will malfunction.
Signs of a Faulty Air Compressor
Anytime your air compressor burns out, you’ll spot the following signs:
• Van sags to one corner when parked
• Loud noises coming from your air suspension
• Ride height is uncomfortably low
• Bumpy rides
When you spot the above problems, check your air springs. If your air springs form a leak, your air compressor burns out trying to pick up the slack. The only solution is replacing both parts. Even if your air compressor’s new, air spring leaks will still cause damage. So, prevent future replacements by checking both parts.
